New Proof of Immortality

Inasmuch as we are an expression of an eternal truth that aspect of us lacks beginning and end.  So if we add one and one and make two, we are, by our action expressing or instant using an eternal truth, namely, that 1+1=2.

And yet that kind of immortality is in no way emotionally satisfying.  Why?  Because our instantiation of the eternal truth does not help the eternal truth that we manifest.  It does not matter to “1+1=2” that we instantiate it.

We want immortality that makes our mortal lives, our successes, failures and strivings, matter.

The square wants an immortality of a different type. It’s hard to put yourself in the position of a square, but it isn’t like being a human but square. It’s quite different because they are only 2 dimensional. And they have no concept of time. It’s quite an effort of imagination to put yourself in the position of a square, but of course they want to be immortal too. The square says “if I could just be extended through the third dimension, I would be satisfied.”

This seems a little ridiculous when you’re a human because we can grasp exactly what the square wants: it wants to be a cube. And cubes are just as rubbish as squares really, so it’s easy to feel superior. However what is particularly striking is when you look at a cube, examine its faces, you see they are all squares. And each square says “if I could just be extended through the third dimension, I would be satisfied.”!

They’re just squares so they don’t know that they ARE extended through the third dimension. But you try telling them that. I mean, they’re just squares. They’re not going to understand stuff like that.
